Floating Stair Aberdeen
Our client was a specialist property developer converting and aged Bothy on the outskirts of Aberdeen. The site was set back behind a hill so maximising the light in the house was very important. The client decided upon the floating timber staircase to keep the hallway as open and as light as possible.
L Shaped Riser Infills
Instead of the separate riser infill piece that comes as standard on all out timber staircases, our client went with the L shaped integrated downstands. These reduce the gap between to the treads to less than 100mm whilst giving the impression of the thicker tread when ascending and providing a L shape detail when viewed from the side.

Curved Handrail
To add a nice feature to the bottom of the staircase, a curved handrail was selected which twisted up the flight. This not also looks great but is beautiful to feel as one ascends.
Solid Oak Staircase
Client selected oak as the choice of timber to match the oak doors and flooring being installed around the property. Stair was factory treated with a water based matt lacquer to provide a subtle and wipe clean finish.
