Floating Starcase Essex
This was a large floating timber staircase over 1m wide supplied in untreated beech parquet for on site treating. Our client was quite particular about the finish and wanted to do it himself once installed. It was a quarter turn staircase with a few tight winders at the bottom. These were left over sized for the installers to cut into place when fitting.
Beech Staircase
Our client was on a budget and decided on beech, being the most economical species of timber for this staircase. However he also went with the beech parquet option which offered him a further saving. Parquet timber is still solid but each tread is formed from smaller blocks of wood, very much like a parquet floor. These pieces are bonded together for strength. Using smaller pieces is a cheaper production method.

Chunky Newel Posts
Given the stair was extra wide (1080mm) we all decided that the standard newels might look a little out of proportion. These were therefore upped to 100 x 100mm piece and were spaced at 1m centres along the edge of the mezzanine floor.
Glass Landing Balustrade
Instead of spindles our client opted to have 10mm toughened glass infill panels across the front of the mezzanine floor. These glass panels were held in place with brushed stainless steel clamps to match the spindles on the staircase. The glass panels were topped with the same 150 x 42mm beech parquet handrail used on the staircase.
